Medical Services

During your training, the Training Center has medical staff available to assist you with minor medical issues that may arise. Should you need emergency medical care, Training Center staff will assist in you receiving medical attention from one the local hospitals in the Columbia area.

Residential Facility

The residential facility may accommodate up to 36 people and has the following features:

  • Each room has double occupancy.
  • There are three efficiency apartments used for simulated independent-living training.
  • There are three dayrooms: one on the men’s end of the facility, one on the women’s end of the facility and one co-ed lounge located in the center of the facility.
  • There is an accessible resource room equipped with Internet-capable computers.
  • All rooms are nonsmoking
  • Each room has a mini-fridge, desk and chair, dresser, nightstand, closet and bed.
  • Staff is available 24 hours a day, Monday-Friday.

Transportation

Transportation to and from the Training Center may be provided by the South Carolina Commission for the Blind. A driver will pick you up on Monday morning to go to the center for the week and take you home on Friday afternoon. Our transportation services are not available on holidays.

Recreation

We have a gym and weight room for recreational purposes.
