As part of the Vocational Rehabilitation program, the South Carolina Commission for the Blind provides specialized services for consumers who are deaf-blind (having both vision and hearing loss).

Eligibility

Eligibility for services is based on the following:

    • Seeking services to prepare for, enter in, or retain competitive employment
    • Having a central visual acuity of 20/200 in the better eye with best corrective lens or a visual field of 20 degrees or less (legal blindness), or having a progressive visual disability that will result in legal blindness
    • Having a hearing loss
    • Requiring and benefiting from Vocational Rehabilitation services
